The Redington Behemoth is the reel we hand people when they ask for the most stopping power their money can buy. Its super heavy-duty carbon fiber drag is the most powerful in its class, wrapped in a die-cast frame whose interlocking, deep V-spool design cannot be produced by machining. It balances a trout rod at 4/5 and stops tarpon-class fish at 11/12.

We stock every size and every color — all fifteen combinations, deep. Whatever rod you are matching, it is on the shelf.

Full lineup

Size Weight Diameter Width Backing capacity
4/5 5.2 oz 3⅜" 1⁵⁄₁₆" 125 yds / 20 lb
5/6 5.7 oz 3⅝" 1⁷⁄₁₆" 125 yds / 20 lb
7/8 7.5 oz 4" 1¾" 200 yds / 20 lb
9/10 10.8 oz 4⁷⁄₁₆" 1¹⁵⁄₁₆" 200 yds / 30 lb
11/12 11.4 oz 4¾" 2¹⁄₁₆" 250 yds / 30 lb

Colors: Black, Gunmetal, O.D. Green. Current pricing is on the selector above.

Picking one

  • Trout on 4–6 weight rods: the 4/5 or 5/6 — more drag than a trout will ever test, which means it is buttery at the low end.
  • Streamers, bass, light salt: the 7/8 is the do-everything size.
  • Salmon, steelhead, redfish, permit: the 9/10.
  • Tarpon and big game on a budget: the 11/12 — this is where the Behemoth's drag really shows off.

Key features

  • Super heavy-duty adjustable carbon fiber drag — the most powerful in its class
  • Unmachinable die-cast aluminum construction with interlocking spool
  • Large-arbor, deep V-spool for fast pickup and extra backing
  • Oversized drag knob you can find mid-fight without looking
  • Twin molded soft-touch handles; converts left/right retrieve
  • Nylon reel case included

Spare spools: we stock Behemoth spare spools so one reel can carry a floating line and a sink tip — see the Behemoth Spare Spool listing.

Want machined instead of die-cast? The Redington Ace (also on our site) is Redington's CNC-machined step up — lighter for its size with a first-of-its-kind lattice spool. If you fish salt hard or just prefer machined aluminum, that is the upgrade path within Redington.

Warranty: Redington original-owner lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
