Trip Details

Location:
Your adventure begins at the shop, where you'll meet your guide and prepare for the day. From there, you'll head to the waters below Pleasure Park for a full day of fishing on the Lower Gunnison River.

Guided Support:
Our professional guides ensure a seamless experience, offering expert advice on fly selection, casting, and techniques to help you maximize your success.

Meals:
A delicious riverside lunch is included, keeping you energized throughout the day.

Gear:
Guests should bring their own wading gear, including boots and waders, as well as personal fishing equipment. Need gear? Contact us in advance to arrange rentals.

This is a full-day experience, allowing plenty of time to explore the river’s most productive fishing spots.

Meeting Place

The meeting place for your trip will vary depending on your lodging arrangements. We recommend staying in Montrose, Colorado, the night before your launch date and arranging to park your vehicle (if applicable) at your hotel. If you need lodging suggestions, our staff will be happy to provide recommendations.

Travel Recommendations

Getting to Montrose

  • By Plane: Fly into Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ), served by United, American, Southwest, and Delta airlines. We can arrange pick-up at your hotel or the airport.

By Car: Option 1:  Take I-70 to Grand Junction then Hwy 550 South Bound to Montrose.  Option 2:  Take Hwy 50 into Montrose.

  • Weather: Warm days and cooler nights. Perfect for camping along the river.
  • Water Conditions: Flows stabilize, creating ideal floating and fishing conditions.

Fall (September to October)

  • Highlights: Stunning fall foliage and quieter conditions on the river. Brown trout become more active as they prepare for spawning, creating great opportunities for larger catches.
  • Weather: Cooler, crisp days and chilly nights. Layers are essential for comfort.

The trip includes professional guide services, a riverside lunch, and a day of fishing. Guests should bring their own fishing gear and wading equipment, but rentals can be arranged in advance if needed.

The trip requires moderate physical activity, as you'll be walking along the riverbanks and wading in the water. The terrain may be uneven, so reasonable fitness and mobility are recommended.

Bring your wading boots, waders, fly-fishing gear, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and any personal items you may need. Be sure to dress in layers suitable for changing weather conditions.

Trips run rain or shine, but in the case of severe weather or unsafe conditions, your guide will make adjustments or reschedule as necessary.
