Abel SDF Fly Reel Ported - Satin Purple/Black Knob - 4/5 WT w/ Alum Black Handle

The Abel SDF (Sealed Drag Fresh) was named best new freshwater reel of 2018 by Fly Fisherman Magazine and took Best of Show at the 2017 ICAST/IFTD trade show. It came together after Abel's move to Colorado, when the trout-rich water out their back door pushed the team to take everything they had learned and build a better reel for the river.

The SDF is a scaled-down version of Abel's award-winning SDS saltwater reel, with the same porting style and a stainless steel and carbon fluoropolymer drag system built for years of low-maintenance performance. Drag pressure ranges from zero to ten pounds, with an adjustment range nearly three times wider than the original SD and virtually no start-up inertia. The result is a reel that protects light tippet on a 16 and still has the stopping power for a thick-shouldered brown.

This is the Satin Purple finish with black drag knob and aluminum black handle, a 4/5 weight reel suited for everything from a small-stream 3-weight up through a 5-weight on the home water.
