When to want the fleece. Winter tailwater days, launching a boat in November, and the long Montrose mud season. When not to: anything much above fifty degrees — an insulated rubber boot warms up quickly and there is nowhere for the heat to go.
Why siping matters. The razor cuts across the outsole open as the sole flexes, pushing water and mud out from under the tread instead of letting it sit there like a lubricant. Same idea as a snow tire, and it is why these grip a wet deck when a hiking sole slides out from under you.

Not a wading boot — no drainage and no studs. For actual wading, look at the Grundens Bedrock or Bankside.
Care: wipe with a damp cloth, clean with cold fresh water only, no solvents. Pull the insoles out and air dry away from direct sun or a heater. With fleece inside, give them a full day before wearing again.
