Echo Bravo LT Fly Reel

Echo's premium freshwater reel. Built around a proven platform but completely overhauled at its core, the Bravo LT shoehorns a four-layer carbon fiber drag system into a compact large arbor reel that's ready for trout, steelhead, salmon, and light salt. Sealed against water and grit with internal O-rings, easily serviced without tools, and priced under $160 — this is the reel for anglers who want premium drag performance without the premium price tag.

Four-Layer Carbon Fiber Drag

The headline feature of the Bravo LT is the four-layer carbon fiber disc drag system packed into a compact hub. Echo cut, shaved, and overhauled the core of the reel to fit four discs where most reels at this price use one. The result is smooth startup inertia, consistent pressure throughout long runs, and reliable engagement when fish make hard pulls. About 2-4 pounds of maximum drag pressure in the 4/5 size — plenty for trout, plenty for any freshwater species you'll encounter on the Gunnison or San Miguel.

Drag knob runs about 2.5 turns from minimum to maximum, perfect for dialing in pressure quickly without hunting through endless detents. Audible click on incoming and outgoing line.

Sealed Construction with Tool-Free Service

Internal O-rings keep water and dirt out of the reel's guts. The design lets you change retrieve direction from left to right without tools, and lets you completely disassemble the drag and service it without spilling a drop of your beer (Echo's words, not ours — but accurate). For anglers who fish dirty water or who travel a lot, that maintenance access is worth its weight.

Large Arbor Platform

The Bravo LT features a large arbor design that speeds line retrieval and reduces line memory. Approximately 7.5 inches per turn in the 4/5 size with 100 yards of backing — fast enough to keep up with trout that run at you, plenty of capacity for any freshwater situation.

The "propellor" porting design on the spool and cage adds visual character and reduces weight. Matte black finish stays true to Echo's utilitarian aesthetic.

Three Sizes Cover 4-9 Weight

The Bravo LT is available in three sizes covering 4 weight up through 9 weight applications. Whether you're delicately landing a Rusty Spinner in front of a rising trout or working freshly-run steelhead on a coastal trib, there's a Bravo LT for the job.

Honest Notes

  • This is a cast aluminum reel, not CNC machined from billet. That's how Echo holds the price point. The trade-off: the matte black finish can show wear or scratch with rough handling.
  • The Bravo LT is moderately heavy for its size class — 4.85 oz in the 4/5 is on par with reels like the Redington Run, but lighter than some entry-level options. It balances most modern trout rods well.
  • The drag is sealed against grit and water but isn't fully waterproof submersion-rated. Don't dunk it in saltwater all day — but a freshwater rinse after a salt trip will keep it running fine.
  • Despite some marketing as "saltwater-safe," the Bravo LT is best understood as a premium freshwater reel with light saltwater capability. For dedicated salt use, the Bravo (the saltwater version, sold separately) is a better fit.
  • Echo's 12-month limited warranty covers manufacturer defects.
