This is the Bugout with the grown-up materials. Milled 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum scales in place of the composite, and Bohler M390 steel in place of the S30V — a powder stainless that sits at the top of the production-knife food chain for edge retention and corrosion resistance.
The trade is weight. At 2.5 ounces it is well over half an ounce heavier than the Grivory version, and you notice it. What you get back is a handle that will not flex under any grip you can apply, and an edge that goes a very long time between sharpenings.
Burnt Brass wears a warm anodized finish with turquoise hardware. Gray carries a sunburst milling pattern cut into the scales. Both run a black blade.
Fair warning on M390: it holds an edge beautifully and it is stubborn to bring back. Budget for a diamond stone or send it in on LifeSharp.
