Machined in Montrose, Colorado — a mile from our door, on the banks of the Uncompahgre, from raw bar stock to finished anodizing.
The Colorado is Ross's click-pawl reel and the lightest thing they build: 3.2 ounces in the 2/3. No disc drag, no sealed stack — just a novel all-metal external clicker on the back of the reel, machined with a San Juan Mountains silhouette, making the sound that made people fall in love with fly fishing in the first place. On a 2, 3, or 4 weight, that is not a compromise. It is the entire experience.

Picking one
- Creeks, brookies, glass rods: the 2/3. Pair it with a fiberglass 3 weight and the whole outfit nearly disappears.
- Everyday dry-fly trout: the 4/5 on an 8½-foot 4 weight.
Details that matter
- Unidirectional click-pawl with an all-metal external clicker and a crisp, audible note
- Semi-caged frame; beveled large arbor with a very open spool
- Industry-first Vesconite bushing — a material developed for the toughest marine bearing applications
- Canvas micarta handle; San Juan Mountains machined into the clicker
- Hard-anodized in Ross's own closed-loop Montrose facility
Need a drag instead? If your light rod also pulls duty on bigger water, the Animas 4/5 is only about half an ounce heavier and brings a real composite disc drag. We stock both, and you are welcome to hold them side by side at the counter.
Warranty: Ross limited lifetime warranty to the original owner, valid only on reels purchased from an authorized dealer — which we are. Service happens at the Montrose factory, typically within four weeks.
