The sock that goes under your wading boot when you are wet wading — no waders, just boots and bare legs on a hot July afternoon. It keeps grit out of your boot, prevents the blisters you would otherwise get, and takes up the space your wader bootie normally fills so your boots still fit properly.

The part people get wrong. When you switch from waders to wet wading, your boots suddenly have a wader bootie's worth of empty space in them. A 2.5mm neoprene sock fills most of that gap, which is why your boots feel right instead of sloppy. Skip the sock and you will roll an ankle or lose a boot in the mud.

Neoprene or knit? We stock both, and they do different jobs:

  • These neoprene socks — warmer, better at blocking sand and grit, and they take up more room in a boot. The choice for cool water and rocky bottoms.
  • Simms Guide Wet Wading Sock — a knit polypropylene sock, much lighter and cooler, with arch support. The choice for genuinely hot days and for wearing inside a wet-wading shoe like the Pursuit.

Pairs with: any of our wading boots for wet wading, or the Simms Pursuit Shoe — though note the Pursuit is sized to be worn barefoot or with a thin liner, so a 2.5mm neoprene sock may be more than it has room for. Ask us and we will sort the combination.

Care: Simms does not publish care instructions. Rinse in fresh water, turn inside out, and dry out of direct sun — neoprene degrades in UV faster than anything else you own.
