The Access is Simms's newest wading boot and the one they have been pushing hardest this season — a modern, versatile build aimed squarely at the angler who wants guide-boot capability without guide-boot weight.
What it is for: everyday trout fishing that involves some walking, some wading, and no desire to think about your feet. It sits between the featherweight Flyweight and the heavy-duty G3 Guide.
Features
- Durable synthetic upper with reinforced toe and heel
- Supportive midsole built for walking as well as standing in current
- Corrosion-resistant lacing hardware
- Drains and dries quickly
- Studdable for additional traction

Choosing between the Simms boots
| Boot | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Flyweight | Hiking in, covering ground | Least ankle support; narrower D width |
| Access | Everyday all-around wading | Newer model, less field history |
| Freestone | Value, comfort, general use | Middling traction rating |
| G3 Guide | Heavy water, hard use, re-soleable | Heaviest by a wide margin |
We stock all of them and you can put them on side by side, which beats any table.
On soles in Colorado: rubber is the responsible default. Felt grips slick rock better but carries whirling disease spores, didymo, and mud between drainages far more readily. Studs recover most of the grip. Clean and dry your boots between rivers regardless.
Sizing: boots go over your wader booties, so Simms says size one full size up from your street shoe, and half sizes round up. Bring your waders in and try boots on over them — call 970-964-9991 and we will have sizes waiting.
Warranty: defects in workmanship and materials covered; wear-related damage repaired for a reasonable fee. Simms's 60-day and one-year terms apply to waders only, not footwear.
