The Benchmade x Abel Mini Adira is what happens when two of the best American makers join forces. Benchmade brings its precision folding-knife engineering, and Abel brings reel-maker artistry, machining and finishing the ported anodized aluminum handle scales right here in Montrose, Colorado, the same town as our shop. Inspired by Abel's VAYA-series fly reels, this is a knife with fly fishing in its DNA.
The handle wears Abel's Dark Waters Lightning anodize, a finish that evokes springtime storms and shifting weather patterns. Dark day, dark water. It is unlike anything either brand has released, and at just 1000 pieces worldwide, it is a true collector's piece.
At the business end is a 3.21-inch drop-point blade ground from CPM-MagnaCut, one of the most advanced stainless steels available, hardened to 60-62 HRC for an exceptional balance of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance that is ideal for life around the water. The satin finish keeps it clean and classic. Benchmade's ambidextrous AXIS lock opens and closes the blade one-handed from either side, and a paracord lanyard with a nylon bead adds a practical, fishy touch.
At 7.46 inches open, 4.25 inches closed, and just 3.09 ounces, the Mini Adira carries easy and works hard. It is small enough for everyday carry but built to the standard you expect when two American manufacturers put their names on the same knife.
