The Darkhorse in its rubber-only, maximum-traction configuration — shipping with Kling-On sticky rubber and Studded Kling-On soles. No felt, which means no restrictions on where you can take them and nothing that carries whirling disease spores or didymo between drainages.
How to run this pair: plain Kling-On for trails, boat decks, and moderate wading; clip on the studded version when the rock turns slick or you are wading fast water. Korkers describes Studded Kling-On as ideal for extremely slippery aquatic environments where felt is not an option — which describes a good deal of western Colorado in spring runoff.
Swapping takes about a minute and no tools: toe clips in, heel strap secured, step down, and gravity seats the sole.
