The Abel SDF in De Young Brook Flank, 4/5 weight, pairs Sarah de Young's hand-painted brook trout flank artwork with the SDF's ported frame, machined out to shed weight without giving up stiffness. The matching brook flank drag knob carries the artwork through to the palming rim, finished off with a hand-shaped rosewood handle for a warm contrast against the painted finish.
The SDF runs a sealed drag pulled straight from Abel's saltwater lineup, giving near-zero start-up inertia to protect light tippet on a dry-fly drift, with enough stopping power in reserve for a trout that wants to run.
