The Shootout is Benchmade's double-action out-the-front automatic — push the slider forward and the blade fires out; pull it back and it retracts. Double-action means one control does both, which is why these are the OTFs people actually carry rather than just admire.

The steel is the headline. CPM-CruWear at 63-65 HRC is harder than anything else in the Benchmade folding range, and it is a tool steel rather than stainless — excellent edge retention and toughness, but it will spot if you put it away wet. Wipe it down and keep light oil on it. The Flat Earth PVD coating helps, but the edge itself is bare steel.

At 2.8 ounces it is remarkably light for an OTF, most of which are heavy slabs. CF-Elite or Grivory handles depending on the version.

Blade shapes. The tanto stacks mass behind the point for piercing and prying. The drop-point is the general-purpose shape with a finer tip for detail work.

Automatic knives are restricted in some states and municipalities. It is on you to know your local law before ordering. We ship where it is legal to do so.
