The Wildcoast is Benchmade's fillet and camp-kitchen fixed blade — a 6.83" clip-point built for breaking down fish and game where you caught them.
For a fly shop this is the interesting one in their kitchen line. A long, fine clip-point with SelectEdge is exactly the geometry for taking fillets off a trout or a salmon: the thin edge follows the bone instead of tearing through it, and the length lets you do it in one pass rather than sawing.
CPM-154 stainless at 58-61 HRC. Softer than the super steels, which is correct here — you want a fillet edge you can bring back on a steel in thirty seconds, not one that takes twenty minutes on diamond stones.
Maple Valley Richlite handle with a black G10 bolster. Richlite is compressed paper and resin: it looks like wood, but it does not absorb fish slime or water and it will not split. Ships with a blade guard.
