A Skagit head built for heavy tips and big flies. The RIO Ambassador Series Skagit Timberline is a short, powerful shooting head designed to load a two-handed rod deeply and turn over sink tips and weighted flies without a fight.

Skagit casting is about sustained anchor and load — and a short, heavy head is what makes that work in tight quarters. Where a Scandi head asks for room and a light fly, the Timberline lets you fish a T-tip and a heavy streamer off a confined bank, which is exactly the situation most western steelhead and big-water trout anglers find themselves in.
