Blanks come from Shimano's Spiral X facility in Kumamoto, Japan; the rods are hand-finished in Woodland, Washington. G. Loomis's claim for the series is unambiguous: the most technologically advanced fly rod in the world.
What Spiral X does. Three-layer blank construction — a core layer, a longitudinal middle layer, and a reverse-axis fiber outer layer. G. Loomis: it increases rigidity without adding weight, reduces ovalization under load, and delivers virtually instantaneous power transmission. Ovalization is a blank flattening under load and bleeding off energy; the reverse-axis outer layer fights it. That is what you are paying for.

Important, and the reason to call us. G. Loomis redesigned the Asquith for 2026, moving to Spiral X Core — an evolution of the carbon tape construction using high-strength resin developed through Toray Nanoalloy technology — with new Fuji T2 titanium SiC strippers, black PVD recoil snakes, and a new curved fixed-hood reel seat. The redesigned freshwater range is 6 and 7 weight only.
That means the 4 and 5 weights here are previous-generation rods. That is not a bad thing — they are superb, and they are the last of a lineup that will not be rebuilt — but you should know what you are buying. The honest comparison: the NRX+ Freshwater is built in the same Washington shop with titanium SiC strippers and AAA cork, costs meaningfully less, and is the right rod for most anglers. The Asquith is what you buy after casting both and deciding you want the one without compromises. We stock both — come cast them back to back rather than deciding from a page.
Warranty: limited lifetime to the original owner, proof of purchase required, non-transferable. Accidental breakage runs through the Xpeditor replacement program for a set fee, tiered by series with Asquith at the top. G. Loomis's site is offline for rebuilding — call us for current terms.
