The Mirage LT is Orvis's premium trout reel — fully machined 6061-T6 aluminum with their sealed carbon and stainless drag, built light enough to balance a 3 weight and strong enough that people take the bigger sizes to the flats. LT stands for light: this is the Mirage architecture with material machined away everywhere it was not doing structural work.

Why sealed matters on a trout reel. Most trout never test a drag. But grit does — wading silt, sand from a boat ramp, the dust that lives in every truck in western Colorado. A sealed drag keeps all of it out, which is why a Mirage LT feels the same in its tenth season as its first. That, not raw stopping power, is what you are paying for.

Mirage LT or the standard Mirage? The LT is the trout-focused build — lighter, sized down to a 1–3 weight. The standard Mirage runs heavier and larger for serious saltwater duty.
