The Deviation is the taller, more cushioned sibling of the Deck-Boss — six inches of waterproof coverage on a thicker insole. Grundens built it for anglers who are on their feet all day, on and off the water.

Specifications

Waterproofing 100% waterproof
Height 6 inches — covers a wider range of conditions than an ankle boot
Midsole Thicker compression-molded EVA — noticeable shock resistance and all-day cushioning
Outsole Non-marking lugged rubber with razor-cut siping to clear mud while gripping a wet deck
Lining HeiQ Pure anti-odor cooling liner
Also HeiQ SmartTemp thermo-regulating finish

The thicker insole is the reason to choose this over the Deck-Boss. If you are standing on an aluminum drift boat floor for eight hours, or on a concrete shop floor, that cushioning is the difference between fine and sore. If you are mostly stepping in and out of a truck, the lower Deck-Boss is plenty.

Siping, briefly: the razor cuts open as the sole flexes so water and mud squeeze out from under the tread rather than acting as a lubricant. It is why a deck boot holds on wet aluminum when a hiking sole slides.

Check the selector for available colors and sizes — Grundens rotates colorways, and if you are looking for one you have seen before and cannot find it, call 970-964-9991. We can tell you whether it is still gettable rather than leaving you guessing.

Current pricing is on the selector above.

Related boots we stock: the Deck-Boss Ankle Boot (lower, lighter, easier in and out of a vehicle) and the Deviation Sherpa, which is this boot with a fleece lining for genuinely cold weather.

Not a wading boot. No felt, no studs, no drainage — water over the top stays in. For wading take the Grundens Bedrock or Bankside, both on our site.

Care: wipe with a damp cloth, cold fresh water only, no solvents. Pull the insoles and air dry away from sun or heaters — heat kills rubber faster than wear.
