The reel Ross started with, back in production in the same town. The original San Miguel was designed in 1973. This is the 50th-anniversary redesign — same silhouette, same polished high-gloss finish, rebuilt around a modern sealed drag — machined and anodized in Montrose, Colorado, about a mile from this shop.
It is the only gloss reel in the Ross line. Everything else is matte; the San Miguel shines on purpose. Behind that finish is a powerful, smooth sealed carbon and stainless drag with a wide adjustment range and a knob designed for real tactile feedback — you can feel the clicks with cold hands.

Every reel ships with a second, oversized drag knob that press-fits over the standard one — a nice touch if you fish gloves, or if you just like a bigger knob to grab mid-fight.
