Two pockets instead of one is the practical difference from the short-sleeve version, and the hidden zip pocket behind the left one is the detail worth knowing about. That is where a license and a truck key go — the two things you cannot afford to shake out of an open pocket when you bend over to release a fish. Most owners do not find it for a season.
The sewn-in sunglass chamois means you stop wiping lenses on a dirty shirttail. Small thing, used constantly.
Sun protection: Simms does not publish a UPF rating for the Challenger. Worth saying plainly. If you want a rated sun shirt, the Big Sky LS is UPF 50+ with a vented mesh back, and the SolarFlex Hoody is UPF 50+ with hood and thumbholes. Both stocked here.
