A women's sun hoody with insect repellent built into the yarn — the layer for evenings when the mosquitoes come off the willows and you would rather not spray anything on your skin.
How BugStopper actually works
The repellent is Insect Shield. In Simms's words: a long-lasting, EPA-registered insect protection that's built directly into the fabric. Not sprayed on. Not something you wash in. It's there from the start. The active ingredient is permethrin, bonded at the yarn level before the garment is ever made.
That is the part worth understanding — it is not a coating that rinses out. Simms's claim is that it is designed to last the life of the garment. The “70 washings” number you will find online is Insect Shield's figure rather than Simms's, so we cite it as theirs, not ours.
Repels: mosquitoes, ticks, no-see-ums and biting midges, ants, chiggers, and biting flies.

Worth knowing: Simms prints a “runs small, size up if in doubt” warning on their plain SolarFlex Hoody but not on this one, which fits closer to the chart. If you own both, do not assume the same size carries across.
No bugs where you fish? The Women's SolarFlex Hoody is the same UPF 50+ idea without Insect Shield. Also stocked.
Care: machine wash and dry. Skip the fabric softener — it coats the fibers and dulls the anti-odor finish. The insect protection needs no special handling.
