Simms's own words: our highest-tech, hardest-charging wader. The G4Z is the top of the line and the only wader they build entirely from GORE-TEX Pro — 3-layer through the upper, 4-layer through the lower and seat, with extended 4-layer coverage across the front thigh where a boat gunwale and a hundred river crossings do their damage.
Made in Bozeman, Montana, of imported materials. Only two waders in the Simms line carry a USA build statement, and this is the flagship of the pair.
The zipper is the reason people buy this wader. It is a YKK AQUASEAL fully waterproof front zip installed with stitchless construction — the most refined zipper system Simms makes. Once you have layered up, or answered nature's call, in a zip-front wader on a cold morning, going back is difficult.

G4Z or G3 Guide? Both are GORE-TEX and both are USA-built, so the honest differences are narrower than the price gap suggests:
| G3 Guide | G4Z | |
|---|---|---|
| Upper fabric | 3-layer GORE-TEX | 3-layer GORE-TEX Pro |
| Lower fabric | 4-layer GORE-TEX Pro | 4-layer GORE-TEX Pro + seat |
| Front zip | None | YKK AQUASEAL waterproof |
| Waterproof pockets | Standard | TRU ZIP submersible |
| Weight (M) | 50.1 oz | 50.8 oz |

Sizing — how Simms does it
Simms bakes the bootie size into the wader size, then asks for inseam separately:
- Wader size carries the bootie with it — “M 9-11” is a medium with a 9–11 bootie
- King is a separate word meaning roughly two extra inches of girth at the same inseam — not a longer size
- Inseam is its own choice: Short, Regular, or Long
Simms sizes off your largest girth — chest, waist, or hips, whichever is biggest — then inseam, then bootie. Not every wader is offered in every size in their chart.
Come get measured. Call 970-964-9991 or stop by the shop. We will take the three measurements, get the bootie matched to your boots, and order in the exact size. Waders are the worst thing in this shop to guess at online, and Simms's Custom Shop can build sizes that never appear on a website.
Warranty: Simms covers waders unusually well — 60 days, no questions asked replacement for leaks; repairs free through the first year; after that a flat fee covers evaluation, repair, testing, and return shipping. Turnaround runs around three weeks. Buy them from us and bring them back to us — we will handle the claim rather than sending you to a phone tree.
