Simms describes the Glades as the perfect weight for those warm but not-quite-short-sleeves days, and that is exactly right. It is the hoody for spring and fall mornings, evenings on the water, and the drive home — heavier and softer than a technical sun shirt, with a bit of Tencel in the blend that makes it feel like something you would wear off the river too.

Read this before you choose — it is UPF 30+, not 50+. If you are buying a hoody specifically to hide from July sun on the Gunnison, the SolarFlex Hoody is UPF 50+ on a lighter 145 gsm knit and is the better tool. The Glades is warmer, softer, and more comfortable in cool weather, and it has a real pocket. Pick by season, not by which sounds more technical. We stock both.
