The Tributary is Simms's entry wading boot and the natural partner to the Tributary wader — the lightest and most affordable boot they make, at 50 oz (1,418 g) per pair.
This is the rubber sole version, on Simms's proprietary multi-directional lugged compound.
Construction
- Rugged synthetic leather and mesh upper with scratch rubber overlays
- Full neoprene lining — more than the Freestone's partial lining, and it makes the boot comfortable straight out of the box
- Fully gusseted tongue keeps grit out
- Corrosion-resistant lacing hardware
- Simms proprietary multi-directional lugged rubber outsole
- Width EEE, sizes 4–15 — whole sizes only

Being straight with you: Simms rates this boot 2 out of 5 for rubber traction, the lowest in their line, against 3 for the Freestone and 4 for the G3 Guide. Ankle support is a solid 4. So it is a comfortable, light, well-built boot that gives up some grip. On easy wading and gravel that is fine. If you wade fast pocket water or slick freestone regularly, spend up to the Freestone or the G3 Guide — both stocked here — or plan on adding studs.
Whole sizes only. Worth noting since every other Simms boot offers half sizes. Combined with the standard advice to size up, this makes trying a pair on genuinely important.
Sizing: boots go over your wader booties, so Simms says size one full size above your street shoe. Since this model is whole sizes only, come in with your waders and try them on. Call 970-964-9991 and we will have a couple of sizes ready.
Rubber or felt? We stock both. Rubber is the responsible default in Colorado — felt carries whirling disease spores and didymo between drainages far more readily. Clean and dry your boots between rivers either way.
Warranty: defects in workmanship and materials covered; wear-related damage repaired for a reasonable fee. Simms's 60-day and one-year terms are waders only.
