A dedicated big-game skinner. The 4.2" drop-point blade has a long sweeping belly — that curve is what does the work when you are separating hide from carcass, and it is why a skinner looks different from a general-purpose knife.
The blade is CPM-S90V, and on a hunting knife that choice earns its keep. Field dressing an elk is abrasive work that dulls ordinary steel fast. S90V's high vanadium content means you can get through an animal without stopping to strop. It is stainless, so blood and moisture are not a problem.
Full tang, 4.38 ounces, and it ships with a Boltaron sheath — a thermoformed plastic that will not absorb moisture or rot the way leather can when it lives in a pack all season.
Two handle options. Richlite with an orange G10 base layer is the practical one — the orange shows through the milling so the knife is findable when you set it down in leaf litter, which is a real problem with dark-handled knives. Stabilized wood at $250 is the traditional look.
