The Vapyr is the Bugout rebuilt rather than restyled. Benchmade took the chassis 33% thinner — 0.282" against the 0.42" of every other Bugout — and it changes how the knife carries completely. At 1.72 ounces it is the lightest Bugout they make.
The blade is CPM MagnaCut at 60-62 HRC, and that is the headline. MagnaCut is the steel that finally stopped forcing a choice between edge retention, toughness and corrosion resistance — it does all three, which is why it has taken over the premium end of the market since it arrived. Black Cerakote finish, Taiga Green backspacer and thumb stud.
Two things to know before you buy. The clip is tip-down standard carry, not the tip-up mini deep-carry the rest of the line uses — if you are used to a Bugout in the pocket, this rides differently. And Benchmade rates it for a longer cycle life than the standard build.
If you want the thinnest, lightest, best-steel Bugout, this is the one. It is also the one most likely to feel unfamiliar if you already carry a 535.
