The Double Gonga started as an idea blending a Matuka and a Woolly Bugger, and landed on a purpose-built streamer with a few clever details. A dense marabou tail carries into a fuller schlappen collar for extra profile and movement in the water, while lead eyes mounted on the underside of the hooks keep the fly riding hook-point-down to reduce snags.
Instead of a deer hair head, the Double Gonga uses a head built from soft craft fur/polar fibre fibers packed into a dubbing loop. That construction creates a thick, shapeable chenille-like collar around the lead eyes that sinks quickly, sheds water on the back cast, and gives the fly its own underwater pulse as it moves.
Tied on a pair of 3XL #4 hooks, this is a big, articulated streamer that's still easy to cast. Fish it with an aggressive rip-and-strip retrieve, or dead-drift it with an occasional pulse of the rod tip to trigger a reaction strike. This listing is for a 2-fly pack.
