The G.E.N. is Galvan's purpose-built euro nymphing reel, and the reason it exists is one specific problem: thin euro leaders slipping into the gap between spool and frame on a normal open reel. The G.E.N. uses a closed frame that eliminates that gap entirely.
If you have ever had to pick a leader out from behind your spool mid-drift, that is the whole pitch.

Which diameter?
Both are rated 2 through 5 weight, so pick on balance rather than line rating. Euro rods are long — 10 to 11 feet — and tend to feel tip-heavy. The 3.7 at 5.22 oz balances a 10' or 11' rod better and gives a faster pickup. The 3.5 at 4.79 oz suits a shorter or lighter rod. Bring your rod in and we will hang both on it.
The feature most people miss
The G.E.N.'s closed frame also accepts Torque and Rush Light spools. So if you already own a Torque, your existing spools drop straight into a G.E.N. frame. That makes it a genuinely versatile second reel rather than a single-purpose tool — run the closed frame for euro days and swap in a standard spool with a floating line when you want to fish dries.
