The Youth Minnow was Redington's kid-sized starter outfit: an 8-foot 5 weight, 4-piece medium-action rod at just 3.6 oz, shorter and lighter so young casters can actually load it, with a Crosswater reel pre-spooled with RIO Mainstream line, backing, and leader in a zippered travel case.
Currently sold out, and Redington has discontinued the Minnow. Getting a kid started? The Redington Classic Trout Kit in the 7'6" 3 weight is a superb youth outfit: short, light, forgiving, and it carries a lifetime warranty so it survives the learning curve. In stock on our site now.
Or bring them by the shop. We love setting up young anglers and will let them cast a few options on the lawn.
