The Maverick is Sage's saltwater workhorse — fast-action Konnetic blanks with true saltwater hardware at a price that makes a legitimate Sage salt rod attainable. Built for the wind, the double haul, and the quick shot: bonefish, redfish, permit, tarpon, and everything that eats in between. It also moonlights beautifully as a big-streamer and pike rod here at home.
Handcrafted on Bainbridge Island, Washington. Check the selector above for what's in stock — we carry the 12 weight deep for tarpon season, and can order any other model with a quick turnaround.

Picking one
- Bonefish and redfish: the 8 weight is the classic first salt rod.
- Permit and windier flats: the 9 or 10 weight.
- Tarpon: the 11 or 12 weight — the 12 is our stocked tarpon rod.
- GTs and big game: the 13 weight.
- Staying in Colorado? The 6 or 7 weight is a superb pike and big-streamer rod for the reservoirs.
Maverick or Salt R8? We stock both. The Salt R8 is Sage's flagship salt rod — lighter, faster recovering, and noticeably better at range. If you fish salt every year, it earns the extra money. The Maverick delivers the trip-of-a-lifetime dependability at a price that leaves room in the budget for the trip.
