A complete Clearwater setup in one box — rod, reel, line, backing, and leader, rigged and ready to fish. This is the outfit we recommend more than any other to people buying their first serious fly rod, and to experienced anglers who want a second setup without assembling it piece by piece.
What makes this outfit different from a cheap kit: the rod is the real Clearwater, built on Helios tapers by Orvis's Vermont designers, and it carries the same 25-year guarantee as their flagship rods. The reel is a genuine Clearwater with a carbon-to-stainless sealed drag, not a placeholder. Nothing in this box is something you will want to replace in a year.
What's in the outfit
- Orvis Clearwater fly rod, 4-piece, with rod tube
- Orvis Clearwater reel with sealed carbon-to-stainless disc drag
- Weight-forward floating fly line, backing, and tapered leader — spooled and rigged

Which one? If this is a first outfit for western Colorado, take the 9' 5 weight and stop thinking about it — it handles dries, nymph rigs, and small streamers on every river within two hours of this shop. Step to the 6 weight if you already know you like throwing streamers or fish a lot of wind.
Buy it here and we do the part that matters. We check the rigging, show you the three knots you actually need, and make sure the reel is set up for your retrieve hand before you walk out. That is the difference between a rod that gets fished and a rod that lives in a closet.
Warranty: the Orvis 25-Year Guarantee on the rod. Original owner, proof of purchase may be required, modest processing fee on repairs.
