A note on the action rating. G. Loomis's spec table lists these as Fast while their own body copy describes medium-fast spey actions. Their material contradicts itself. In practice these are friendlier than a fast steelhead rod, which is what you want in a trout spey — but we would rather point out the discrepancy than pretend it is not there.
Grain windows: G. Loomis does not publish them. Only line weight. Their position is that grain window and line weight designations should be used as a general guide and will vary based on different manufacturer's line specifications, as well as each angler's casting style.
Fair enough, but a trout spey rod with the wrong head is genuinely unpleasant to cast, and most people who give up on swinging flies gave up on a badly lined rod.
