The T2S is the most interesting rod in the NRX+ saltwater family, and the one that needs explaining. T2S is a two-piece “Tournament” saltwater configuration — in G. Loomis's words: a two-piece Tournament Configuration with a grip ferrule delivers one-piece performance with the convenience of compact transport, ideal for travel-intensive competition schedules.

Why two pieces is the point. Every ferrule interrupts a blank. Serious tournament casters have always preferred one-piece saltwater rods and put up with the transport nightmare. The T2S puts the single ferrule inside the grip, where it does the least harm to the action, and gets the packed length down to 8'10" territory in two sections. You get close to one-piece performance in something you can actually get to the flat.

Full lineup — five models, all 8'10", all 2-piece

Line Length Pieces Best for
8 wt 8' 10" 2 Bonefish, redfish, permit
9 wt 8' 10" 2 Permit, big reds, small tarpon
10 wt 8' 10" 2 Tarpon, stripers
11 wt 8' 10" 2 Migratory tarpon
12 wt 8' 10" 2 Blue water, GT

Extra-fast saltwater action. Current pricing is on the selector above.

The shorter length is deliberate too. At 8'10" the rod loads faster on a close shot and gives you more leverage on a fish under the boat — which is most of saltwater fishing. It is not a compromise to make the two-piece work.

Components

  • Dynamic Recovery Technology; grip ferrule two-piece construction
  • Glare-cutting matte black finish — G. Loomis's stated aim is to encourage boat-side eats from wary fish
  • Titanium SiC stripping guides with recoil snake guides
  • Full-wells AAA cork; custom aluminum reel seat with fighting butt
  • Handcrafted in Woodland, Washington

One thing to check with us before you buy. G. Loomis's published “what's included” for the T2S lists a cloth rod bag but does not list a rod tube, unlike every other NRX+ model. That may simply be a catalog omission on their end, but a two-piece 8'10" rod needs a specific tube and we would rather confirm it with our rep than have you find out on arrival. Call 970-964-9991 and we will get you a straight answer before it ships.

Warranty: limited lifetime to the original owner, proof of purchase required, non-transferable. Accidental breakage runs through Xpeditor for a set fee. G. Loomis's website is offline for rebuilding at present — call us for current terms.
