Sage Spey II Fly Reel — Built for the Anadromous Angler
Sage's Spey II Fly Reel is designed specifically for the anadromous angler providing an ideal mix of enhanced modern performance and refined traditional design that serious two handed anglers will immediately appreciate. From swinging classic patterns for steelhead on big western rivers to hunting Atlantic Salmon on remote northern waters the Spey II delivers the dependability, balance, and performance that the most demanding spey fishing situations require.
Internally the Spey II utilizes a redesigned sealed carbon fiber disc and dual clicker drag system that ensures dependability, eliminates unwarranted spool rotation, and offers exceptional resonance. The iconic click of a Sage Spey reel paying out line is one of the most satisfying sounds in all of fly fishing and the dual clicker system delivers that classic sound and feel with modern reliability built in.
Mass and balance were given equally high attention in the design process with updated model sizing to better align with matching Spey rods and an adjusted reel foot location to provide uniform axial balance with the rod. A full frame design eliminates the possibility of shooting lines slipping between spool and frame while the addition of a machined radius around the reel foot makes for comfortable wrapping of leader, tip, or tippet. The screw tight spool lock with knurled lock nut provides extra grip and security during the most dynamic casting motions.
Completing the package is a classic and elegant aesthetic of porting and laser engraving that Spey anglers can acknowledge and appreciate — a reel that looks as good on the bench as it performs on the water. Every Sage Spey II comes packaged with a neoprene and embroidered ballistic nylon reel case.
