The Ratio is Orvis's large-arbor saltwater and big-game reel — built for fish that run a long way, fast. Sizes III through V cover flats through offshore work, in two finishes: Silver Deep Sea and Blackout.
We stock all three sizes in both finishes, which is more Ratio than most shops in Colorado keep on a shelf — useful if you are putting a trip together on short notice.
Sizes we carry

Sizing your reel to your rod and your backing. Saltwater reel choice is really a backing-capacity decision — a bonefish will take you 100 yards into it and a tarpon considerably further. Tell us what you are chasing and what line you are running and we will get the size right, then spool backing and line for you before the trip. That service is free and it beats guessing from a chart.
Where it sits: the Mirage is Orvis's other serious salt reel, and the Mirage LT is the lighter trout-focused build. If you want a hand-to-hand comparison, we keep them together in the case.
Warranty: covered by Orvis's guarantee — bring it in and we will start the claim for you.
Rinse it. Fresh water after every salt day, every time. It is the single thing that decides whether a salt reel lasts five years or twenty.
