Hareline UV2 Premium Selected Marabou is hand-sorted plume marabou in Hareline's UV2 dye process. These are the long, full feathers off the top of the grade — more usable fiber per plume and far less of the short, wispy stuff you end up stripping off and throwing away. If you tie buggers, leeches or articulated streamers in volume, the difference shows up in how many flies you get out of a bag.

Why It Works:

Marabou's whole job is movement, and fiber length is what buys it. A premium plume gives you a tail that keeps breathing on the pause instead of collapsing into a point. The UV2 treatment adds ultraviolet reflectance to the dye — Hareline's own process, and worth having in off-color or low-light water where a flat-dyed feather goes dull.

Product Features:

  • Hand-selected premium plumes — longer fiber, less waste per bag
  • UV2 dye process for ultraviolet reflectance
  • Soft, dense barbules that pulse on the swing and the pause
  • Tails, wings and collars on buggers, leeches, Sex Dungeons and Game Changers
  • Black and Polar White — the two colors that start most streamer boxes

Ed's Take:

Black is the one we reach for on the Gunnison when the water has color in it, and Polar White is the base for anything meant to look like a baitfish — it takes marker and dye better than any other color on the rack, so a white plume and a copic pen cover a lot of ground. This grade and our standard UV2 Marabou run the same price here, so if you are tying anything over size 6 there is no reason not to take the longer plumes.
