Lamson Speedster S-Series Fly Reel — A Hot Rod of a Reel, Built for Fast Line Pickup
The Lamson Speedster S is a super-high retrieve-rate reel, engineered to pick up line fast when you need it most. It earns the name with three deliberate design choices: a narrower spool, an inboard-mounted handle, and an outer diameter significantly larger than even Lamson's highest-performing reels. The narrow spool prevents line barreling, while the inboard handle and added circumference work together to improve retrieve rate.
For streamer fishing, saltwater, or any situation where you are stripping line and need to recover it quickly, that fast pickup is a real advantage. Pair those features with classic Waterworks-Lamson styling and attention to detail, plus the brand's time-tested, maintenance-free sealed drag, and you have, as the name implies, a hot rod of a reel.
The Speedster S is also a refinement of what came before. An enhanced spool machining technique that places material only where it is needed makes this version significantly lighter and higher performing than its predecessor. It is machined from 6061 aluminum and stainless steel, finished in Type II anodize, and offered in Midnight and Ember. Like all Waterworks-Lamson reels, it is US made, built in Idaho.
