The long-sleeve Challenger: Simms's everyday fishing shirt, and the version most anglers should own. Sleeves you can push up beat sleeves you cannot pull down, and forearms are where people actually burn on a western river.
Specifications
| Fabric | 100% polyester, heathered plain weave |
|---|---|
| Weight | 115 gsm: light |
| Collar | Point collar, button front, placketed button cuffs |
| Chest pockets | Two: the left also carries a hidden zip pocket |
| Back | Vented |
| Extras | Sunglass chamois, back locker loop, shirttail hem |
Two pockets instead of one is the practical difference from the short-sleeve version, and the hidden zip pocket behind the left one is the detail worth knowing about. That is where a license and a truck key go: the two things you cannot afford to shake out of an open pocket when you bend over to release a fish. Most owners do not find it for a season.
The sewn-in sunglass chamois means you stop wiping lenses on a dirty shirttail. Small thing, used constantly.
Sun protection: Simms does not publish a UPF rating for the Challenger. Worth saying plainly. If you want a rated sun shirt, the Big Sky LS is UPF 50+ with a vented mesh back, and the SolarFlex Hoody is UPF 50+ with hood and thumbholes. Both stocked here.

Body measurements, not garment measurements. Simms publishes no runs-small warning for the Challenger. Current pricing is on the selector above.
Care: Simms does not publish care instructions for this shirt. Wash cool, tumble low, skip the fabric softener. It coats synthetic fibers and kills wicking.
