The Turbulence Hybrid Hoodie answers the problem every cold-weather angler knows: you need insulation for the walk in and the first hour of light, then you need to not cook in it the moment you start moving. Grundens solved it by putting warmth only where you lose it and leaving the rest breathable. Wear it alone on the shoulder seasons or run it as a mid-layer when the weather turns.

Why It Works:

The insulation is body-mapped G-Loft Stretch, which means the fill is placed by zone instead of spread evenly through the jacket. Your core and upper back get the loft; the areas that generate their own heat when you're casting, rowing, or hiking in get less of it. Because the insulation stretches along with the shell, the jacket moves with a casting stroke instead of binding at the shoulder.

Product Features:

  • Body Mapped G-Loft Stretch Insulation — warmth where you lose it, breathability where you make it
  • Recycled Stretch Polyester Shell with water, wind, and tear resistant coating
  • C0 DWR Finish — water beads off instead of wetting out the face fabric
  • Large Vertical Zip Chest Pocket — fits a fly box or a phone, and sits high enough to reach over waders and a wading belt
  • Zippered Handwarmer Pockets — stay shut when you bend over the net
  • Extended Double Weave Cuffs — quick drying and abrasion resistant right where your forearms get wet
  • Hood layers under or over a rain shell without bulking up

Best For / Not For:

Best for: cold-weather trout and steelhead, drift boat days, walking in before light, and as a mid-layer under a hard shell when the weather actually turns.

Not for: sustained heavy rain on its own. This is water resistant, not waterproof — put a rain shell over it when the sky opens up.

Ed's Take:

This is the layer we reach for from October through runoff. The hybrid build is the whole point: a full puffy is too much the second you start rowing, and a fleece quits the moment the wind comes up the canyon. It runs true to size — if you're layering a heavy fleece underneath, size up one. Pairs naturally under the Vector Wading Jacket.

Care & Warranty:

Machine wash warm (40°C) with a mild liquid detergent and like colors. Tumble dry low. No iron, no dry cleaning, no powder detergent, no fabric softener, no bleach — softeners and powder detergent are what kill a DWR finish. Covered by the Grundens warranty; bring it to us and we'll handle the claim.
