The GT Series is Scott's medium-action trout rod, built on the thinnest-walled blanks they have ever made. Where the Centric is fast and crisp, the GT loads deeper and gives you more feel at short range — the rod for people who fish dries and want to know exactly what the line is doing.
Every GT is hand inscribed with an individual serial number and built in Montrose, Colorado, roughly two miles from our door. We stock the complete GT lineup, all nine models.

Picking one
- One GT for everything? The 8'10" 5 weight. It handles an indicator rig in the morning and a size 20 dry in the evening without feeling like a compromise either way.
- Dry fly purist? The 8'10" 3 weight. Long leaders, tiny flies, and enough tip protection to fish 7X without popping off.
- Travelling? The five-piece 8' 4" models break down short enough for a pack or a carry-on and give up almost nothing to the four-piece rods.
- Nymphing bigger water? The 9' 8" models. The extra length is line control — mends, reach, drag-free drifts. Take the 5 weight if you also want to swing.
GT or Centric?
Both are premium Scott trout rods at similar money, and people ask us this constantly. Short version: the Centric is fast — higher line speed, flatter loops, better in wind and at distance. The GT is medium action — it loads deeper, feels more alive up close, and rewards a smoother stroke. If you mostly fish dries at reasonable range, GT. If you push distance, throw heavy rigs, or fight wind, Centric. Best answer is to cast both, which you can do here.
