The Air 2 Reach is the Air 2 in ten-foot lengths — built, in Winston's words, for trout applications that demand a little extra length for technical nymphing, long drift presentations, and lifting more line.

Worth being clear about what this is not. Winston does not market the Reach as a competition euro-nymph rod. It has a full wells grip with a fighting butt and an aluminum reel seat — heavier-duty hardware than a dedicated tight-line rod, which usually runs a down-locking seat and a slim grip. This is a long trout rod for reach, mending, and indicator work. If you want a purpose-built euro rod, tell us and we will point you at one.

Full lineup

Line Length Pieces Winston's own take
4 wt 10' 0" 4 Technical dry and nymph; protects light tippet; tight-line nymphing
5 wt 10' 0" 4 “The most versatile of the series” — handles overweighted floating, intermediate and sinking lines; stillwater chironomid
6 wt 10' 0" 4 “If you measure fish in pounds, not inches” — big indicators, heavy sink lines, Pyramid Lake

All four-piece, fast action. Currently sold out — call the shop and we will check availability with Winston and get your size ordered. Current pricing is on the selector above.

Why ten feet matters here. On the Gunnison and the Uncompahgre, the extra foot is mostly about line control — holding more line off conflicting currents, mending further, and lifting a rig cleanly at the end of a drift. It is also genuinely useful from a boat. The trade is a little more tip weight through a long day.
