The Classic Trout is exactly what the name promises: a moderate-action trout rod that loads easily, protects light tippet, and lays a dry fly down softly — with cosmetics that look twice the price. Dark clay brown blank, rosewood reel seat insert, custom machined seat hardware. It has been Redington's quiet workhorse for years because it just fishes.

Nine models from a 7'6" 2 weight to a 9' 6 weight — check the selector for today's stock; anything sold through we can get quickly.

Why moderate action? Fast rods win casting contests; moderate rods catch fish at fishing distances. The Classic Trout bends deep enough to load at 20 feet, which is where most trout are actually hooked — and that same bend is why 6X tippet survives a hot fish.
