Picking one
- The one most people want: the 7'6" 3 weight.
- Smallest water: the 6'6" 2 weight — a three-piece, and a genuine delight.
- If glass will be your main rod: the 8' 5 weight has enough backbone for a real day of fishing.
Line it right. Glass rods load slowly and reward a line that matches. If you buy one of these, talk to us about the line before you spool up — the wrong taper makes a good glass rod feel like a wet noodle, and that is a fixable problem we would rather fix at the counter than have you discover on the river.
Pair it with: a click-pawl reel. The Battenkill Click or the Orvis CFO on a Superfine is about as good as a trout outfit gets on a small stream, and both are stocked here.
