Some reels stop fish. This one sings while they run. The Battenkill Click is Orvis's traditional click-and-pawl — a ported standard-arbor spool, 6061-T6 aluminum, and a four-position internally adjusted clicker that makes the sound people fall in love with. On a light trout rod it is all the drag you need and considerably more soul than a sealed disc.
We stock it deep — all three sizes in both finishes, twenty-nine reels on the shelf.

Picking one
- Creeks, small dries, glass and bamboo: the I at 3.4 oz.
- The classic trout pairing: the II on a 4 or 5 weight.
- Bigger trout water: the III.
Details that matter
- Four-position click-and-pawl drag, adjusted internally — set it and forget it
- 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum; ergonomic Delrin handle
- Ported standard arbor, styled after the original Battenkills
- Redesigned curved reel foot that stops leaders kinking
A word on click-pawl reels: you palm the rim to slow a strong fish rather than dialing a knob. On trout rods through about a 6 weight that is not a limitation, it is the fun part. If you would rather have a real disc drag in the same classic body, the Battenkill Disc carries the six-surface Hydros SL drag and we stock all three sizes.
