The Abel SDF USA Flag Edition is a 5/6-weight freshwater reel that wears one of the most patriotic finishes in the Abel catalog. Hand-finished with the stars-and-stripes motif and paired with a machined platinum aluminum handle, it turns a day on the water into something you want to show off at the truck. This is the solid (non-ported) frame, so the flag artwork reads clean and continuous around the reel.
Underneath the finish it's all business. Built for 5- and 6-weight trout rods, this SDF was named best new freshwater reel of 2018 by Fly Fisherman Magazine and took Best of Show at the 2017 ICAST/IFTD show. It carries a fully sealed drag borrowed from Abel's saltwater program, so light-tippet presentations and hard-charging fish are both covered.
