The DXF GEN2 is Douglas's mid-priced workhorse and the rod we hand people who want real performance without flagship money. Moderate-fast action, minimal tip bounce, and a build that punches above its price point.

GEN2 is the current generation — it replaced the original DXF, and the two are not interchangeable for parts or spares.

Current pricing per model is on the selector above.

About that nymphing rod: it ships as a 10-foot four-piece and converts to 11 feet with the included butt extension. Two rods in one tube, which is genuinely useful if you fish water that varies week to week.

Picking one

  • One rod? The 9' 5 weight. Same answer as always, and it is the value pick in the shop.
  • Freshwater or saltwater 6? The 6904 is freshwater. The S6904 is the saltwater build — half an ounce heavier with a fighting butt. Different rods despite the same line weight.
  • Euro curious? The convertible nymph rod is the least risky way in. If you decide euro is not for you, an 11-foot 3 weight still swings soft hackles nicely.

Components

  • Blank: multi-modulus, lightly sanded finish — emerald green flake on freshwater models, brilliant blue on saltwater
  • Guides: stainless frames with dark neo plating
  • Reel seat: self-aligning, dual locking rings, Nylatron inserts
  • Grip: AAA cork with rubber trim — reverse half-wells on freshwater, full-wells on saltwater
  • Included: Cordura tube with matching cloth sock

Warranty: Douglas limited lifetime against defects to the original owner, plus a no-fault program for accidents. Replacement sections are available from Douglas for a modest fee if you break one outside warranty.
