Hareline Double Pupil Lead Eyes are painted dumbbell eyes with a second, contrasting ring around the pupil instead of a single dot. The extra ring is the whole idea — it makes the eye read as an eye from further away and from more angles, which is what you want on a Clouser or a jig streamer that a fish is tracking from the side. Ten pairs per pack.

Why It Works:

Lead eyes do two jobs at once: they turn the fly over so it rides hook-point-up, and they set how fast it drops. Working across the size range is how you tune that without changing patterns — the same Clouser in X-Small fishes a shallow flat, in X-Large it gets down in heavy current. Running one color through several sizes keeps your box consistent while the sink rate changes.

Product Features:

  • Double-ring painted pupil for a more visible eye
  • Five sizes from X-Small to X-Large
  • 10 pairs per pack
  • Flips the fly hook-point-up on Clousers, jig streamers and Crazy Charlies
  • Baked enamel finish over cast lead

Best For / Not For:

These are lead. Some waters and some states restrict lead tackle — check your local regulations before fishing them, and if you need a lead-free option, ask us about the brass version of the same eye.

Ed's Take:

Black with Fl. Orange is the one that moves here, on everything from Gunnison sculpin patterns to carp flies on the flats below Delta. Yellow Chartreuse is the stained-water answer. Buy the size, not the color — most tyers own one color and four sizes rather than the other way round, and the Medium and Large are what empty first.
