Hareline UV2 Marabou is standard-grade plume marabou run through Hareline's UV2 dye process. It is the everyday bag on a streamer bench — enough fiber for tails and collars on buggers, leeches and small articulated patterns, at a price that lets you tie through it without rationing.
Why It Works:
Marabou earns its keep on the pause, when the fibers open and breathe while the fly hangs. The UV2 treatment adds ultraviolet reflectance to the dye, which is Hareline's own process and the reason these plumes keep some life in stained water where a flat-dyed feather goes muddy. The olive range here is the useful part: three olives that are actually different from each other, which is rarer than it sounds.
Product Features:
- UV2 dye process for ultraviolet reflectance
- Soft barbules that pulse on the swing and the pause
- Tails, wings and collars on buggers, leeches and small streamers
- Three distinct olives plus a dyeable fluorescent white
- Sold by the bag
Ed's Take:
Olive marabou does more work on the Western Slope than any other color, and the three shades here cover the spread: Dark Olive for off-color water and sculpin imitations, Med Olive as the all-purpose bugger tail, Olive Brown when the fish want something closer to a crayfish. Fl. White is the blank canvas — mark it, dye it, or leave it alone for baitfish. If you want longer plumes and less waste per bag, step up to our UV2 Premium Selected Marabou; both grades run the same price here, so it comes down to whether you need the fiber length.
