At 7 inches and 2 lb 8 oz per pair, it is the lowest-cut and lightest boot in the OmniTrax line. Many anglers prefer that: more ankle mobility, less weight over a long day.
Felt only — read this before you buy
Felt grips slick, algae-covered rock better than any rubber compound, and on a home river it is genuinely excellent. But felt stays wet and holds mud and organisms for days, which makes it the best-known carrier of whirling disease spores and didymo between drainages. Colorado has not banned felt, but whirling disease has a real history in these waters.
If you fish only one river, this package is a good buy — just scrub, rinse, and dry the boots fully between trips.
If you move between the Gunnison, the Uncompahgre, and the San Miguel, get the two-sole package instead. The Greenback also ships with felt plus Kling-On rubber, and that second sole is exactly what lets you switch drainages responsibly. It is on our site, and it is the version we usually recommend.
You can also add soles later. Every OmniTrax 3.0 sole is sold separately — Kling-On, studded Kling-On, Vibram XS Trek, studded Vibram, even aluminum bar. Swapping takes about a minute and no tools: toe clips in, heel strap secured, step down. So a felt-only boot today can become a two-sole boot whenever you want.
