Maddin's Flash Monkey is an articulated streamer fly created by renowned tier and guide Russ Maddin. It looks sparse and almost alien when dry, but takes on a realistic, teardrop baitfish profile once it's in the water. Bucktail, flashabou, peacock herl, and saddle hackles combine with a chromatic or foxy brush head for a full, flashy silhouette that pushes water and darts on the retrieve.
Tied on a shank with bead chain eyes, it hovers and stalls with great movement when stripped, holding its baitfish profile through the pause. Originally designed for king salmon, it's also a proven producer on smallmouth bass, pike, large brown trout, rainbow trout, and other aggressive predators. Fish it swung through river currents or stripped fast with an aggressive two-handed retrieve.
